Craft Fairs- If you have never done a craft show/fair before it is something for you to consider. Over the next few weeks I will be blogging about selecting craft fairs, booth setup, a craft fair "survival" kit, and I will let you know how our own first show of 2009 went and what I learned from it!
Our First Show of the Year! Well this was definately a busy weekend and I had hoped to share some booth pictures with you BUT I forgot my camera...not once, but twice! The show this weekend was in conjunction with Sunderland's Maple Syrup Festival. This was the 14th year for the show and buses shuttled people between events. It was very well organized but there was one factor out of everyone's control....the weather. Saturday was freezing and windy and according to vendors who had participated in the show in previous years traffic was WAY down. However, we did make quite a few sales that day, met some great people and handed out a bunch of coupons/cards for our online stores. Sunday was a much nicer day and traffic was steady, people were in a good mood and spending $$. By the end of the day I looked at the coupons on the table and was shocked to find that most of them were gone (I had printed off over 100). Hopefully we see some visitors to our online store as well. We tried a few different display methods that we had not previously explored and were quite interested to see the things that people were interested in. Overall we decided that this is a show that we will do again next year, with hopes of nice weather for both days!
Business Bit-Be sure to pack up your supplies (bags, tissue paper, receipt books, pens, scissors, tape and CAMERA ahead of time!) I had my supplies bucket packed early in the week and was still using my camera and forgot to include it! Ooops!

I'm glad the weather picked up for you in the end.
I wouldn't have through to bring a camera to a craft show, but it seems like a wise idea.
